Black Leather Sword Baldric
We take a fine 6-8 oz oil-tanned leather, cut it into wide 2" straps, and then rivet them together to make these simple but strikingly functional shoulder sword baldrics.
Each strap is angle-cut, overlapped onto the next strap, and then riveted at each juncture. This gives it a very unique and original effect without being overly flashy.
The baldric length is made a set length - it is NOT adjustable. This keeps the costs down (average cost of the simplest of baldrics is usually well over $70 for anything of quality) and we figured - 'hey, you're buying it for you to wear. If you buy your size, why would it have to be adjustable?'
Anyway.... the simplest way to measure what size you need is by using a piece of rope, string, robe belt, lamp cord, braided maiden's hair, horse tail, or woven straw rope - or whatever's laying around. Measure from the hip bone, up the chest, over the shoulder, and back to the same point on your hip (this is easiest with two people).
For reference, the average 6' 180lb person would wear around a 58-60" baldric belt.
Remember to specify the size you need when making payment.
This may sound like a hassle, but these were originally designed to be sold on-site at Renaissance Faires and SCA events where the customers were able to try them on right there. Hey, who said being a pirate or a knight was easy...?
AND, just like our sword frogs, you lace your sword scabbard into the hanger with the soft 1/2" wide leather straps.
The soft leather straps help grip the scabbard to prevent slipping.
Holds much better and is more 'period' than nylon cording like other shops use!
The excess lacing can also double as a 'peace tie' to satisfy Faire Security!
Simple... easy... and the lowest price you'll find anywhere!!
What else could you ask for in a real leather baldric!?!?
